Learn the Buddy Handshake!

17 May 2012

1 - SA AmbassadorsLearn the Buddy Handshake in time for National Buddy Day to highlight the importance of friendship and raise awareness around the issue of bullying.

The special ‘kids only’ handshake has been developed by NAB and The Alannah and Madeline Foundation (AMF) to unite all children in a nationwide gesture of friendship as part of National Buddy Day celebrations.

Like all handshakes, the Buddy Handshake has its own meaning. Each of the sixsteps that make up the Buddy Handshake represent the values of the Foundation’s bullying prevention program, ‘Better Buddies’ – caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing difference, including others and responsibility.

To get involved and learn the Buddy Handshake, simply click here or head into your local NAB  store and pick up a Buddy Handshake Guide to share with your friends.

Trinity Collegestudent, Caleb Murongah is one of 15 student ambassadors from across the country leading the charge in teaching fellow students the Buddy Handshake.

“I’m really excited about teaching all of my friends how to do the Buddy Handshake. It’s something really cool for us to learn and share with other kids so that we can come together on National Buddy Day to celebrate our friendships,” Caleb said.
